I want to help my lawn

I really need to shower my grass with love this year. I have animals and refuse to use chemicals. Unfortunately, a lot of my St. Augustine grass has been invaded by Bluegrass weeds. I was reading kelp was good to feed your grass but then as I was reading, it said for shrubs. What can I lay on my grass that will be safe for my animals to share?
