rose with long canes

I used to have a rose with long canes (14′) and lovely pale pink flowers. However, the pale flowers suffered from thrips. Can you suggest a tough rose with long canes and dark flowers? (I don’t want bright red. I have read that thrips prefer white and pale blossoms.) The area has been under construction and the old soil replaced with lovely soil from a ‘soil farm.’ It is in full sun. I plan to mulch and can water with a hose if need be. Soil is deep.

You might want to take a look at the rosebush named Don Juan. Or perhaps an English rosebush with long arching canes from David Austin Roses, such as Crimson Shower, William Shakespeare or Tess of the d’Urbervilles. Others might be William Baffin or Joseph’s Coat for a golden yellow and red mix bloomer. Take a look at the website Roses of Yesterday and Today for some nice roses that will fit the need.
