There is really no spacing requirement for these. Just place them around the general area in which you want to keep the dog out. If you have tried this and it has not helped, you may need to look into other options. While many dogs are repelled by chili pepper powder, my dog actually loves it. So it may be helpful to try different tactics until you find one that works for your situation.
