i think my rose of sharon is drowning

My Rose of Sharon is close to the back of our house in a corner where there is little sun, and the ground stays very wet no matter how dry everything else is. The trunk near the ground is soft and tears away easily, and half the tree didn’t leaf or bloom. The rest bloomed but for the past two months it has been very wilty. It’s a pretty large tree Is this most likely from it being to wet? Thank you.

Yes, your plant is likely suffering from root rot.

Rose Of Sharon prefer a sunny location with well draining soil.

Perhaps you could move the plant to a new location that would provide these growing conditions.
