Q.Cabbage Plants

Anonymous added on March 11, 2014 | Answered

I planted cabbage plants in January. They didn’t grow at all and have lost the green color…the leaves turned purple within a few days. Could it be too much lime or too much compost?

This is likely due to a phosphorus deficiency, especially if the soil is cool early in the growing season. Adding phosphorus rich fertilizer or bone meal to the soil should help alleviate future issues and aid in head development.
