crepe myrtle

I planted a Crepe Myrtle approximately 2 months ago during an excessively hot, dry summer in SC. I have watered my tree each morning and again in the evening when it was really hot. I also have an irrigation system which waters my lawn 3 days a week. My tree is dropping leaves and almost bare on the bottom. Solid buds on top of the tree, however, will not bloom. Please help.

Yes, it likely did not get enough water due to the extreme heat. Daily water would be important for the first 2 weeks, not just on the hot days.

Newly planted Crepe Myrtle must be water well until they are established.
Increase watering but also make sure the soil is draining. Tamp down the soil around the tree to make sure air pockets are not present.
Adding 2 to 3 inches of hardwood mulch will help with moisture retention.
A Crepe Myrtle under stress will likely not bloom. They bloom on new growth.
