Q.I over pruned my hibiscus plant last fall

Zone Belchertown MA | judybtown added on May 6, 2015 | Answered

I over pruned my hibiscus plant last fall. Can I save it now? I cut back the Hibiscus plant too much in the late fall. It has not grown yet this spring and I would like to save it or encourage growth. Any suggestions for me?

Are you seeing any signs of life? Do the stems bend or break off?
Is this an indoor planting? I will assume so given your location.
I would water and watch! If and when you see leaves growing you could apply a light fertilizer.
If your plant does began to leaf out you may not see any blooms this season.
