Q.I need help to identify a bug problem with my gardenia plant.
I have two gardenia plants that are currently inside for the winter. I have noticed recently that they are getting “gritty” spots and what looks like spider webs around the new leaf stems. What is this, and what do I need to do to protect the plants?

Your gardenia may be affected by mealy bugs or spider mites, common pests of these plants. Treating with neem oil will help. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/mealybugs-white-residue-on-plants-leaves.htm
