crape myrtles in large containers

I live in zone 7 (northern Mississippi) and have crape myrtles in large containers that cannot be brought inside to over-winter. How can I protect my plants? Thank you.

Generally, in your area the winters are more mild though in a container, plants experience weather more like zones one lower because they do not have as much protection from the cold for the roots as plants in the ground. That being said, even though they should be fine in your zone, to be on the safe side, the roots may still require some protection during the most extreme temps in winter by wrapping the container in blankets, bubble wrap, or quilt batting. I would also move them to a sheltered location, like near the house or even a garage.
