How can I winter over my Banana Tree?

I live in Tarboro, NC. I planted a Banana tree. What zone am I in? I planted in the beginning of the summer. Do I need to dig it up for the winter?

You growing zone is 7a to 8b.
You tree should be just fine in the garden provided it is a hardy variety.
