I live in AZ at 5000 ft. Just moved here recently. Built a greenhouse. Filled a raised bed with half topsoil and half compost.

Question

Planted broccoli, kale, cauliflower, beets, mustard, lettuce, snow peas, zucchini, and one ghost pepper, all in early August. No w it’s mid October and I have seen very little growth from most of the plants. I’ve grown a very good garden for thirty years ( in Nebraska) and never saw anything like this. The Ghost pepper plant grew big and looks really healthy and has flowers, but they never turn into fruit. Not one. What am I doing wrong? I took these pictures when I built the greenhouse and raised bed. I don’t have any current ones but the plants haven’t grown much. Except the Ghost pepper I mentioned. But no fruit on it. The Zucchini also is producing flowers but is not bearing any fruit. Good full sun over half the day and light diffused through a sparse pine tree the rest of the day. The top, upper south side, and east wall are all translucent, as the pictures show.

There are big openings in the greenhouse where insects can get in and I leave the door open during the day.

Vegetables need full sun if possible as you probably know. 1/2 a day may not be enough. I wonder about pollination, too. Since you are getting flowers and no fruit, that could be an issue with the ghost plant and zuchinni. Did your seeds/plants come from a reputable source?

You might have a talk with your local extension agent who may be able to pinpoint the problem for your growing area.
