crepe myrtle pruning

I just planted a small new crape myrtle last year. When should I start pruning? The tree is barely a foot tall and looks like a bush.

First, be sure of the cultivar that you have. You can never make a 30′ tree out of a variety that only grows to be a 3′ shrub.Once you know what is possible for your plant, this article will help you with growing and pruning. http://extension.uga.edu/publications/detail.html?number=C944 ^[1]
