Q.I Just Planted A Red Oak. Tomorrow Is The First Freeze. How Can I Protect It?
My tree is approximately 4 feet high with a trunk about an inch thick.

Unfortunately, this is not the proper time of year to plant. With this being said, losing the tree is a possibility.
You can attempt to mulch around the tree, very heavily, then remove this in the spring. This will be the best option.
