how to get rid of black ants

I haven’t planted my garden yet cause I don’t know how to get rid of black ants. Could I sprinkle cinnamon across the dirt to kill the ants?

The jury seems to be out on whether cinnamon is an effective way to get rid of ants. One entomologist, for example, did a study and her findings were that they increased ant activity. However, you can conduct your own experiment and see if it works for you!
