Snails thrive in India’s monsoon—moist pots are perfect breeding grounds. Coffee grounds work on the surface, but deeper in the soil, they won’t reach. Epsom salt won’t help and can damage roots if overused. Instead, bury half a raw potato face-down in each pot overnight; snails crawl in to hide. Remove and discard daily. You can also mix in a bit of neem cake into the topsoil—it deters pests naturally. For deeper snails, try beer traps: bury a small cup near the root zone, fill it halfway with beer, and cover loosely. The snails are drawn in and drown. Keep soil surfaces clear of mulch or algae to make the environment less inviting.
