Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have several peony bushes that were shredded by a hail storm. Can I cut back now (August 13) or wait until after the first frost as usual? They are really hardy, but they look awful.

Peony bushes have trouble standing up to the weather.
Trim them up at this time without cutting them totally back. They will do much better next spring if they can store up energy by dying back naturally.
