The assassin bugs in our article are NOT the same as the kissing bugs (also commonly referred to as assassin bugs) which carry Chagas. While they belong to the same family, and are commonly confused with one another, they are different species. Those normally found in the garden per our article being Zelus renardii, whereas the kissing bug (we also have an article on them: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/kissing-bugs-control.htm) is a Triatoma species within the subfamily Triatominae.
