I Have Multiple Duranta Sapphire Showers Shrubs In Yard. It Appears That Another Type Of Plant Is Growing Out Of Main Stalk.

Question

The different branches grow right out of main trunk. The leaves appear to be different and there are no flowers on these branches. They have grown at least a foot or more from main trunk. All 5 shrubs were bought at home depot and are exhibiting same problem. Do I prune these off from main trunk or leave them alone?
