Q.different colors of yarrow come back white

Zone Pennsylvania | Lucy added on June 23, 2014 | Answered

My yarrow is not the color it was when I first planted. Do I need to treat the soil? I  have bought different colors of yarrow and when it comes back, it is white. Is something lacking in my soil?

It's quite common for yarrow to change color. This is because the natural color is white, and a variety of hybridizing and genetic manipulation techniques are required to produce colors. With time and/or stress, the plant reverts to its natural white. Stress would probably include too much water, or too much fertilizer.
