I have a Zoysia lawn, I’m not sure what type Zoysia, when pulling plugs should I mow first?

I reside in Tennessee. I’m wondering if when I pill plugs to plant a new area if I should leave the grass long or mow first.

It can help the grass to retain moisture if you cut it before you take plugs. This will force it to stop respiration and start making new shoots. I would advise mowing before hand.
