Q.I have a wisteria tree

Zone 7 | jamiep added on June 14, 2012 | Answered

I took a wisteria bush and made it into a tree and I have had it for 10 years and it has always done well. This year it’s struggling. It flowered and then the leaves started coming out but stopped. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and I have another one and it’s doing well. I don’t know what to give it. Does it need iron or ?. I don’t think it has Crown Gall disease. I will go home and look more carefully. Please help. Thanks.

It actually sounds like it may be a fungus, but there are several it could be. I would treat the plant with a fungicide. Just in case, check the roots for root rot, as this may also be possible.

Wisteria are pretty hardy and tough to kill. It may be having a tough year this year, but it will likely come back full strength next year.
