started on either side, when can I move or pot it without killing it?

If you can dig far enough out to get the roots without harming them then you can move it. Sooner is better than later if it is not in the correct spot, but they can tolerate full sun just fine. It could be something else that is affecting the plant. Unfortunately, your photo did not come through, so I cannot see the damage.
