gleditsia tree killed by fungus

I have a small gleditsia tree which has been killed by honey fungus. If I plant another tree, will that also be attacked? What can I do to stop this from happening? Is it possible to plant a tree in a container and bury the container to avoid attack? What can I do to stop the fungus from killing other plants in the garden?

Honey fungus is deadly, but a liberal soaking with Armillatox may kill it off.Planting in a container could work, but the tree/shrub will not grow well,
unless it is a fig which needs restricted roots.
