Q.I Have A Ginseng Grafted Ficus And Need Help Understanding How To Water It Properly.
Hello – I have a ginseng grafted ficus and need help understanding how to water it properly. Size: The canopy is 18 inches tall and 9 inches diameter Pot size: 5 inches tall and 7 inches diameter Climate: Indoor room temperature (72 degrees F) Lighting: It sits directly next to a window facing east so it gets good morning sunlight and moderate sunlight the rest of the day. I live in North Carolina. Soil mixture: unknown. I bought it from Costco and the plant manufacturer is Costa Farms. Fertilizing: I haven’t fertilized it yet but I plan to do so going forward once every two weeks in the summer and once a month in the winter. I know I have to water it when the soil gets slightly dry. However, I have moss sitting on top of the soil that is confidently in tact so I can’t really stick my finger in the soil to know if it is dry. I have only been going off visuals to see when the plant needs watered. I have been watering it religiously once a week for the past 2 months and seems to be doing fine. Can you please give any advice on how to water my plant given the information above?

Keep your ginseng ficus soil moist but well-drained. It should not sit in water or in saturated soil. Here is more on care:
