Q.I Have A Flowering Dieffenbachia, The Spathe Hasn’t Opened Fully Yet, I Can See That It Has Turned Brown – Is This The Pollen Or

has it gone mildly already? What do I do? Plant otherwise healthy – the particular spathe opened very briefly, and then reclosed. 3 other spathes seem to be white – not fully opened yet.

I did some research and the first time the spathe opens the flowers should be off white. The top flowers are male and the female flowers are at the bottom of the spadix. By the time the spathe closes, the male flowers are browning.

You might try giving your plant more light. That might help the flowers stay whiter longer. The plant can take part sun, but not full sun.
