I have a curved bed of lariope separating a planting of roses from the lawn. The lariope grows high and wild, can it be safely kep
t short and neat using just a lawn mower It is a very long hard slog using pruning shears to level the lariope to 3 inches high!

Although it makes a very jagged cut, and puts it a little more prone to infection, this is still a common way to cut it. Just to mow it. I have done this before, but I do not like to make a habit of it, since it does increase the risk of losing clumps pretty drastically. but it is a very common way of doing it, as expressed here: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/groundcover/monkey-grass/pruning-monkey-grass.htm
