Q.I Have A Beautiful Peony That Has Been In The Same 18 Inch Pot For 20 Years. As It Is May I Already Have A Tall Fully In Bud Plant
. The roots have been showing above the soil for years and it continues to bloom huge big, beautiful blooms. I want to transplant it into the ground. Do I have to wait until Fall even though it is bound? Every year it has bloomed lots of gorgeous flowers . Would I put it into shock & loose all the buds if moved now ? Being that it’s been in this pot this long is it safe to wait until Fall ?

It won't hurt to wait till fall. You can put a little mulch on top of the roots. Since it has buds, if you move it now, it may not bloom. Here is more:
