frost on prairie plants

Question

I had new prairie plants planted – late October in Wisconsin. There was a frost last night. Should I still water them? Are they likely to survive? They were planted by a professional company last Wednesday. Two nights later we had a frost.

You should water new plants up until the ground freezes, even though we have had frost, the ground is still very warm.
The roots will have some time yet to become established, but you still can have loss with plantings this late in the year.
Not to say you won't have losses in spring plantings either. It's just the nature of gardening!
