Fig tree cutting not leafing out

I had a small part of a fig tree stem, 5 inches long, having only one node. It started to shoot out roots, using the hormone for the rooting. It has been like that for more than three weeks, no green shooting yet, as it is only one node. Do you think it will branch or not from that same node? Thanks.

When rooting figs, it is best to root more than one to increase your success rate.

Only one node is needed above the soil line for leaf development to occur. Sometimes figs do take their dear old time to leaf. I read one instance where one took two months! So, you may want to give it more time.
