Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI found an elongated, looks like a banana, seed pod on my friend’s Bird of Paradise. Is this a normal seed pod? This Bird of Paradise is being grown in a large pot, by the side of a brick wall and swimming pool. Being shaded from the hot afternoon sun, by the wall and a slatted overhead shade port. This is in Henderson, NV on the outskirts of Las Vegas. It has enormous orange and blueish purple flowers. Is this seed pod NORMAL? I want to send it to my niece in Sacramento, CA, who has an enormous green thumb!!

Yes, these are perfectly normal seed pods, nothing alien or dangerous about them. Send them to her, with reference to this article, if you like: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/bop/propagating-birds-of-paradise.htm [1]
