Q.I am trying to figure out what to do with this small area. Thinking about a butterfly garden ?

The area has morning and some afternoon sun. Anything that you can suggest would be great.
I reside in Virginia, so I’d like something indigenous to the area. Thank you.

It's exciting, and overwhelming, to start a new garden. Before you make further plans, check out these basic questions: how many hours of direct sunlight does the area get; what does the soil seem like - clay, sand or in between; how many hours/week can you devote to tending plants; and how much money can you put toward the project. Doing your homework now will spare you the experience of putting a lovely plant in the wrong space, a garden area where it will not do well. I speak from experience! Here is a link that discusses how to get going and what to think about. It also allows you to search for plants native to your state. Native plants, along with a few "butterfly magnets" will provide food that butterflies know are safe to eat. If you have questions along the way, please send a new post. Good luck.
