Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have many different kinds of hostas. Today many plants are not coming up. I am wondering if something is wrong. I have not had this problem before. we have had a lot of rain. We also has an ice storm. Could that have something to do with the problem? I sprinkled preen down too.

I don’t think it’s anything you have done wrong. Preen would only inhibit the growth and germination of weed seeds and should not affect the hosta. Most likely it is due to the temperatures in your area and, yes, the ice storm. Hostas show new growth when the temperature rises above 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the temperature warms up and stays, especially soil temps, your hostas should start popping up. If not, you may need to dig one up to check for signs of rotting, which could happen in overly wet situations.
