Q.Hydrangeas

Zone 19711 | Anonymous added on June 26, 2023 | Answered

I have mop head and lace cap hydrangeas. Both are planted in areas that get morning sun and afternoon shade. I rarely prune them. They don’t seem to be getting any bigger and there are not many blooms on them. All of the mop heads were planted before we bought the house twelve years ago. The lace cap is about ten years old. I was hoping that you have some suggestions as to how to improve their appearance.

Try pruning and adding fertilizer to invigorate them. Make sure they get plenty of water, too. They both bloom on old wood, so prune after flowering.
