Hydrangea color changing

I live in an area that has naturally acidic soil (Portland, OR). I planted a couple hydrangeas last spring, and last year and this year, they’re purple, leaning toward the pink side. I know acidic soil changes the color to blue, and that I can add things to the soil to hasten this process. But if I leave the soil around the hydrangeas alone, how long will it take them to naturally turn blue based on the already slightly acidic soil? If you don’t intervene in hydrangea color changing, does the process take a few years?

They may need more acid or aluminum to turn the deep blue
