Hyacinth bulbs & vegetables

Question

I understand hyacinth bulbs are poisonous, as are other bulbs like lily-of-the-valley. How closely can veggies, like lettuce or those in the cabbage family, be planted? The spot where my bulbs are is one of the few which get enough light without getting long hours of full sun.

Interplanting your vegetables with these plants will not harm the vegetables or affect their harvest-able parts. As a precaution, I was say avoid planting vegetables that need digging up, like carrots or potatoes, so that you don’t inadvertently dig up the poisonous plants and get pieces of them mixed in with your edibles. But above ground plants like tomatoes and squash are fine.
