Hyacinth Bulbs

I live in Annapolis, Md. Don’t know the zone off hand. A friend gave me hyacinth bulbs last fall. They got wet. I stored them in the depths of our outdoor shed all fall (forgot about them)…now it’s spring and I saw them in the shed. They have sprouted! The bulbs feel dry and almost hollow, with about an inch of bright light green vital stem, with one or two bulbs showing a bit of flowers. Is there hope for them? Can I put them in the ground NOW to finish growing? No roots grew; they just sprouted.

As long as the bulbs are still hard and not soft (which would signal rot), then it will not hurt to put them in the ground. Now whether or not they bloom this season, only time will tell. But it’s always worth trying.
