howto prune a fig tree

Question

Hi I would like to know how to prune a fig tree and when I have had one for some years and it did not look to good so I put it at the back of a work shop and for got about it until I had a new fence put up and it is now about 6 to 7 feet across and got some fruit on it to so it is still in a big pot and I have moved it to the front of my house it is doing well now in it’s new home but it a bit leggy and need of a good pruning that is what I would like to know regards John.
