Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comI have had this plant since 2006. It was interwoven with multiple others ones that have died and these are the remaining ones. The base of the plants are really thin. One plant can’t stand by itself. I am not sure where to trim and propagate each plant.

It needs to be grown in soil to be healthy. Growing them in water should be considered temporary, since they will start looking pretty rough after while.
Transplanting it in soil, and allowing it to dry out pretty well between watering will keep it healthy. This article will help you with its general care:
