Beavers have damaged the bark on our big tree. What can we do?

As long as the tree is not girdled, you should leave it to heal on its own. The bigger problem is the beavers. They are notoriously hard to keep off a piece of property once they’ve decided that the land is part of their territory. To protect this tree, you may want to try placing some chain link fence around the trunk 3-4 feet high or try a product called Ro-Pel.
