How to transplant sago palm

I recently purchased a sago palm and wonder how and when I should transplant my plant. It has small pebbles on the top of the plant. I am not sure when it was watered last and if I should water it now or later. Thanks so much for your help.

The sago palms that have the pebbles glue to the top of the soil can be difficult to transplant as the pebbles are typically epoxied to the soil and plant roots. You will need to carefully detach this from the pot in order to repot it. I would recommend repotting when the plant begins to get rootbound. This article will help you to determine that:
