Q.How To Stop A Critter From Digging Up My Potted Plants During The Night

I have a number of plants and a variety of problems with critters…rabbits eating off the hosta, squirrels digging up bulbs, but I can’t figure out what nocturnal animal is destroying my potted plants by digging during the night, even when the pots are on tables several feet off the ground. Rabbit Scat powder hasn’t worked. It’s hard to put chicken wire up high enough to not damage the taller plants. What kind of critter could this be and what can I do to save my plants?
