Q.How to save Carolina Cross watermelon seeds

Zone Kroonstad | Jmahlatsi50 added on December 11, 2017 | Answered

I saved seeds from Carolina Cross watermelon, so when it dries up it becomes very flat. What could be the cause of it? And how to do I prevent it?

This seed is immature. It would seem the fruit was picked to early. I would let the melons go a little longer before you harvest. They should be dark black in color. These white seeds will not germinate. I believe I have sent you the information on storing seeds, but now I will provide an article for knowing when to harvest watermelons: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/watermelon/pick-a-watermelon.htm
