Q.How to prune a very large, mature gardenia tree?
My gardenia tree is as tall as the eaves. Because of its location, the previous homeowner allowed the tree to be mostly one-sided. When it blooms in spring, it has hundreds of blossoms. Unfortunately, this summer it has grown even larger and branches are beginning to reach the ground and overtake a large bird of paradise. Although the trunk is quite large, I can barely get my hands around it, I am afraid it really needs trimming. There are still a few blossoms now and then so I don’t know when or where to begin. HELP!
Thank you.
