how to plant umbrella plants

I have an umbrella plant in my garden that I just planted. Just wondering how to plant these. Can I take a piece of it and plant it? Thank you.

There are 2 different common plants that go by the name of umbrella plant. (A good reason to ask the botanical name of any plant when you get it, and get used to using that name.)
