How To Keep Birds From Digging Up My Moss Garden

I have a moss-covered brick patio in heavy shade that had beautiful light green moss on bricks. Birds are completely ruining it by digging. We have mature trees on our property and the new neighbors next store cut down two huge trees for a patio and basketball court. Now we have an incredible array of detructive birds between their droppings and digging up my gardens.
