How To Get Rid Of Outside Yucca Plants

Question

There were several yuccas in my yard planted by the previous owners. I have tried to dig them up but cannot get the whole root and now they are multiplying. I sprayed Round-up on them, which only killed the lawn (no harm to the plant). How can I eliminate them?
