How to get rid of ground nest of wasps?

Nest is under a large elijah blue plant so I can’t see the entrance. I was trying to dig up the plant to divide it but shovel hit the nest and I got several sting bites. I have no photos.

I sympathize, as a life long tree and landscape worker I’ve been nailed more times than I care to remember.
Consider hiring a professional pest control service to keep yourself out of harms way.
If you are determined to do it yourself, this article and materials are the best I could find for you and are consistent with my experience.
