How to Get Rid of a Small Red Flowering Plant (Weed) in My Yard

I have a weed that grows about 3 inches high and has a small red flower on it. The plant kind of grows along the ground and is spreading like crazy. It has now turned brown and is all through my front yard. Do you know what it is and how do I kill it? Thank you.
