Q.How To Get Lichen Off Of Outsides Of House Gutters.
Hi all, I live in Massachusetts and am looking to see how people deal with getting lichen off of the outsides of gutters on the house/garage. I don’t really want to use wire brushes, since I would have to spray paint the gutters again. Any other successful approaches? Thanks,
Sprays that contain potassium soap of fatty acids and that are mixed automatically when attached to a hose are effective at killing lichens. After coating the lichens with the soapy solution, scrub with a brush with semi-hard bristles and clean with plain water. Or test the waters with this method: in an affected section hidden from view, spray with hydrogen peroxide and scrub the area clean. If there is no damage from the spray, use it on all other areas. Scrub the area regularly to minimize the chances of a return. Review what is causing the area to be so humid that it attracted the lichen.
