You can normally leave tthem on the plant until the seed pods dry and turn brown. By that time, the seeds will be ready. Or you can go ahead and harvest the seedpods and simply place them in a brown paper bag, leaving them in a cool, dry location until they turn brown. When done this way, the pods, which usually break open once dry, will drop some of the seeds right into the bag (or you can gently shake them out).
